A firsthand look at Apple Vision Pro as a true VR headset—how the eye-and-hand interface works, what the hardware feels like, and the first-week software compromises.

What Using Apple Vision Pro Feels Like After a Week

Using Apple Vision Pro: What It’s Actually Like!

- All right, so you've seen the unboxing.

What is using the Apple Vision Pro actually like?

This is easily one of Apple's craziest, most radical,

like I've been using it for about a week now.

from a new operating system to infrared eye tracking

to virtually reconstructed versions of you.

I feel like there are so many actually new things

that you have to understand in order to get a sense

of what this headset actually is and what it does.

So I'm gonna break this down into two parts.

This video is all about using the Vision Pro.

It's everything I've learned from the past week

of wearing and getting used to this thing every single day.

But I'm also working on a more wide ranging,

Like what is this thing that I'm holding literally?

and they probably won't like that I'm saying that word.

about why they refuse to use those words,

and they're calling it spatial computing instead.

But the truth is it's a really, really, really high end

It's got displays and lenses and speakers

This is a thing that we have seen before,

that are a little different about this one.

Lots of metal and glass here, which are high quality,

but heavy materials, relatively speaking.

So there's this precisely machined aluminum frame

And yes, those are intakes for fans at the bottom.

And then vents for those fans at the top.

On the right side, there's your digital crown

And then on the other side is just a single larger button.

So kind of basically the same two buttons as an Apple Watch.

And then when you get a little further back

with downward facing grills, these are speakers

Though of course, it also means that people around you

can hear a little bit of what you're hearing.

and I have a lot to say about spatial audio,

which, yes, is very easy to fingerprint and smudge.

And then behind that thing, there's this outward-facing

OLED display and a bunch of sensors all the way around,

And there's depth sensors, infrared illuminators,

lidar scanners, and just regular old RGB cameras,

inside the headset, there are a bunch more sensors

facing your eyes, tracking your eyes in real time,

for all the eye control and everything that comes with that.

And also then to display a representation of your eyes

But overall, when you put it all together,

but also pretty heavy computer to wear on your face.

So officially, this headset with this solo knit band

when I weighed it, showed up as 638 grams,

which some of you on Twitter have already pointed out

is actually slightly less than the plastic Meta Quest Pro.

But that Quest Pro also has a lot of battery

on the back of your head as a sort of a counterbalance,

so the weight distribution is very different.

Also, the Quest Pro is not that comfortable anyway.

But the point is this, for Apple, made the choice

of taking the battery off of the headset, which means okay,

now there's nothing on the back of your head,

so you can wear it and lean up against things,

This is a VR headset

Explore how Nintendo’s 1989 Game Boy made gaming portable, built trust with simple controls and legendary durability, and influenced the tech we use today.

Why the Original Game Boy Changed Portable Gaming

Retro Tech: Game Boy

Hello. All right, you come over all the way to this side...

- What's your name? Raja, Marques. - Raja.

- Good to meet you. - Marques. Nice to meet you.

- I wanna give you this. It's a blindfold. - Cool.

So go ahead and put that on and let me know when you're totally blind.

- I'm totally blind. - I'm gonna put an object over here on this table.

- pick it up and see if you can ID it. - Okay.

Is this a Game Boy? Oh, my God, it's a Game Boy.

I'm Marques Brownlee and I review dope, new tech.

on literally the oldest piece of tech I've ever held.

The Game Boy first came out back in April of 1989.

So this year is the 30th anniversary of its release.

The Game Boy is the most popular portable handheld gaming console ever.

And it kinda changed the course of gaming history.

I never used the Game Boy. Never owned one.

The unboxing experience has gotten better

But this is the first time I've held a piece of tech

to find out its cultural impact over the past 30 years

First thing I'm gonna ask is for you to look under your chair.

- ( Game Boy chimes ) - That little ping. Bing!

Remember when you used to suck on your Game Boy?

In 1989 when this came out, what were the '80s like?

This was the birth of personal technology.

I mean, this is when the Walkman first came out.

You had a lot less entertainment at your disposal.

I mean, seriously, kids, like, you don't even know how good you have it.

The Game Boy is the most popular handheld gaming console ever. It allowed us to take games like Tetris, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda with us on-the-go, changing the gaming industry and our free time forever. On the 30th anniversary of its release, Marques Brownlee unboxes and explores how the Game Boy came to be, it's impact on society, and why it's leaving us feeling so nostalgic.
